From Tuesday 18 to Saturday 22 March 2025, TivoliVredenburg will host Birds Of Paradise! You will see and hear new productions and unique collaborations between different artists. The festival invites artists who work across genres.

On Tuesday the 18th, we will share the stage with Caroline Shaw – one of the most innovative voices in contemporary music. In 2020, she wrote The Evergreen for us, which we will perform this evening, as well as a number of songs together with Caroline.

Shaw knows how to blur the boundaries between classical, pop and electronica like no other. She has worked with a variety of artists and ensembles, including Kanye West, for whom she composed music and performed as a vocalist. In 2009, she became a member of the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, for which she composed Partita for 8 Voices. This work earned her the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2013, making her the youngest winner ever.

After the break, Shaw will take the stage with Danni Lee Parpan in their latest project: the electronic duo Ringdown. This collaboration combines Shaw’s vocal talent and compositional inventiveness with electronic grooves and captivating melodies. In recent months, Ringdown has already released a series of catchy singles, with which Shaw adds a fresh and contemporary pop dimension to her oeuvre.
