Memories of Trees in ‘De Groene Amsterdammer’

We are very pleased with the wonderful description of ‘Memories of Trees’ by Joep Christenhusz in De Groene Amsterdammer of 8 October, who captured our intentions very well. On 27 September the theatre version of our latest programme premiered in Flint Amersfoort on September Me festival.

Together with light artist Jurjen Alkema and director Mees Vervuurt, we adapted the version that premiered on Oerol for our indoor concert tour. The music and the light projections have been designed to create a wunderkammer of pulsating sap streams, communicating fungal threads and crown horror, with the wooden instruments as performers. Or, according to Joep Christenhusz: “Parts of Kate Moore’s string quartet Hy Brasil run like a green thread through the performance. But there is also work by Garth Knox and Kaija Saariaho. In a short piece by composer Mees Vervuurt, the Ragazze make their instruments crackle and rustle like the first falling leaves in autumn. September is the apt title.

We will be touring with this programme in the coming period. Read the full article in De Groene (Dutch only)!
