A world comes alive

Ria Marks is the stage director of Normality No More. We asked her what she likes most about the performance and how it came about.

“In Normality No More a world, a neurodiverse world, comes alive. A world in which all the performers, dancers, musicians and actress try to find their way in live, in a group. Their attempts to relate to others are at the heart of the performance, independent of the outcome. Don’t try to find a story with a plot, but get access to a special world in which each performer has something to contribute, based on its own qualities.

Everyone on stage in Normality No More is both performer and creator. The creation process started with each individual member of the cast developing their own material based on the foscus on neurodiversity. There was no script, but we created the performance based on the choreography of Davide Bellotta, the individual contributions and the texts. Then we made the puzzle and created a completely new performance in which every individual would be seen and the uneasiness of the situations in which the performers often ended up would be felt. It was my role to assure that music, movement and text would all add up to a world full of suprises.”

More than 12,500 people went to see Normality No More already! Do you still want to see it? Normality No More continues will tour until Sunday, April 6. Check our Calendar for the performance dates.
