This month it has been 12,5 years since Ronald Spekle, our business director, joined us. We would very much like to share with you how grateful we are that he helped us grow from a young string quartet to the organisation that we are now with a small team, a full concert calendar, secure funding and a large network. He has always taken us very seriously and supported all our crazy projects and plans. Thanks to him we can now much more focus on the music we make, on developing plans and new projects and curating our festival September Me.
As a contemporary and innovative string quartet, we have been able to develop many multidisciplinary productions. These productions would never have come to life without Roland’s commitment and support. A small selection of the highlights from the last 12,5 years: Ghost Opera NL with music by Tan Dun (2012), Planetary Sunrise with music by Terry Riley (2016), The Secret Diary of Nora Plain (2018) with music by Morris Kliphuis, Lost Tango (2019) and the World’s Wife (2022) with music by Tom W. Green. We played with fantastic musicians and companies such as Nora Fischer, Katharine Dain, Via Berlin, Orkater, NDT, Kapok, Kronos Quartet and Lucia Lucas: too many to mention. Foreign tours took us to the United Kingdom, Sweden, China, Japan, Indonesia and the United States.
We are immensely grateful for the journey we were able to make with Roland and our team and look forward to the next 12.5 years!
