Restrospect: Little Blue Something

On Sunday 28 September, we performed our programme Little Blue Something for the first time at September Me, the festival which we curate. Little Blue Something comprises four pieces by Bryce Dessner, a wonderful work for youth choir, string quartet, percussion, piano and guitar by Aart Strootman, Anni’s Constant by Caroline Shaw and the premiere of Calliope Tsoupaki‘s piano quintet Poem for an empty world, a music piece she wrote especially for September Me.
Together with the National Women’s Youth Choir, pianist Pascal Meyer, guitarist Aart Strootman and percussionist Yung-Tuan Ku, we brought the layered sounds of Dessner, Shaw, Strootman and Tsoupaki to the surface. The tight rhythms and catchy melodies were recorded by the NTR for the programme Avondconcert, which can now be listened to on the NPO Klassiek website (broadcast on 30 September 2025).
As well as on the NTR broadcast, the concert can also be heard live several times. This Saturday, we will be performing Little Blue Something in Paris, at the Théâtre Silvia Monfort. On Tuesday 20 January 2026, the programme will be performed in Saint Brieuc (FR).
