Next week, May 2nd, we will perform in The Barbican Centre, London. We will share the stage with star-baritone Lucia Lucas in our production of The World’s Wife, a chamber opera by composer Tom W Green, based on Carol Ann Duffy’s poetry collection The World’s Wife, in a fully staged version directed by Jorinde Keesmaat.
The World’s Wife retells historical and mythological stories from a female perspective. Inspired by the poems, Tom W Green composed a chamber opera for voice, string quartet and loop station. Various famous women take the stage, ranging from the sexually awakened Little Red Cap to the motherly Queen Herod.
Dutch newspaper ‘De Volkskrant’ wrote: “Baritone and natural force Lucia Lucas beautifully shapes the female anger in The World’s Wife. She is accompanied by the Ragazze Quartet in a staging full of elegant symbolism.”
We would love to see you there!
