Breathtakingly beautiful music in Back to Basics

The pure string quartet programme Back to Basics is a concert full of breathtakingly beautiful music. With this programme the Ragazze Quartet returns to their roots, and tells you why they find these quartets so indescribably beautiful. But also why they play together day after day after day and what their dreams for the future are.

In 2014 the Ragazze made a similar programme with writer and director Koos Terpstra, where they gave their audience an intimate behind-the-scenes of their professional practice. This collaboration gets a follow-up in Back to Basics, where the quartet once again takes a moment to step back and question themselves about the bigger scheme of their career.

Back to Basics contains two pieces that were important at the beginning of Ragazzes journey. Mozart’s ‘Spring’ Quartet they studied years ago at the Dutch National String Quartet Academy and Schuberts ‘Death and the Maiden’ was recorded on their debut album with their label Channel Classics. In between they play the captivating fourth string quartet by Jörg Widmann
