Dance, Beethoven and advanced sound technology

PART is a performance in which dance, music by Beethoven and cutting edge 4DSOUND technology merge into an immersive sensory experience. PART is an exciting collaboration between OFFprojects, Ragazze Quartet and sound designer Salvador Breed.

PART is about emptiness and fragmentation. What remains when we withdraw or delete something? What potential does negative space have? What comes to light when we unravel the whole and look at the individual parts? Emptiness is often associated with loss, but PART shows that it can also mean new potential – right now.

With Beethoven’s monumental string quartet op.132 as point of departure, one of his last and most rich works, choreographer Ben-Tal and the ensemble of ten top dancers and musicians deconstruct and play with the notion of emptiness. The audience sits around the stage. With the additional element of Salvador Breed’s magical sound composition, PART takes the audience on an emotional and philosophical journey through space, movement and sound.

Cellist Rebecca Wise is being replaced by Nathalie Flintrop in this programme.

The 'Heiliger Dankgesang', on which the performance PART is based, is on our CD Spiegel. Two string quartets by Mendelssohn and Beethoven, mirroring each other: it is not a razor-sharp mirror image, but one in which the connection between two heavyweights becomes clear.
