Composer Caroline Shaw is thé American composition talent of this moment. She is a violinist, violist and singer and can boast on being the youngest composer ever to win a Pullitzer Prize, which she won for her Partita for 8 voices, written for the ensemble Roomful of Teeth. Caroline is currently writing a new string quartet for the Ragazze Quartet, which she herself refers to as her Climate Piece. It is no coincidence that this piece fits perfectly in our programme In the Secret Garden, in which new and old music sprout from the ground and in which nature resonates in sound. Apart from work by Shaw, the Ragazze Quartet plays the beautiful fourth string quintet by W. A. Mozart, joined on stage by violist Judith Wijzenbeek.
