Programme 'The Wrong Way' with pianist Thomas Beijer

Ragazze Quartet will tour the Netherlands with pianist Thomas Beijer from 12 April to 21 May 2025 with the programme ‘The Wrong Way’.

Through the music, we will raise the question of how to relate to a dictatorial regime as an artist. Do you use your music as dissent? Or do you find a safe haven in music, full of lust for life and happiness? ‘The Wrong Way’ features three highlights of string quartet literature, all from the Soviet Union and each with its own story:

Sofia Gubaidulina – String Quartet no. 2 (1987)

Sergei Prokoviev – String Quartet no.1 in b minor, Op. 50 (1931)

Dmitri Shostakovich – Piano Quintet in g minor Op. 57 (1940)
