Gubaidulina (1931 - 2025)
We are saddened by the news of Sofia Gubaidulina’s passing. At the moment we are preparing our programme ‘The wrong way’, in which we combine her intimate second string quartet with music by Shostakovich and Prokofiev.
A few years ago when we played this piece as well, we noticed the special atmosphere that would always arise in the concert hall. Though not the easiest music to listen too, her special timbre would lure the audience into a deep concentration, almost spiritual.
We hope to honor her incredible life and spirit by continuing playing her music!
